Union strikes in the US have been on the rise in recent years (USA Today, ABC News, National Law Review). The question will be suspended on 31 December 2025 and the outcome determined using the data as first published by the BLS for 2025, expected in February 2026 (BLS - Work Stoppages, BLS - Work Stoppage Data). For 2023, BLS, which defines a major work stoppage as involving "1,000 or more workers and lasts at least one shift during the work week, Monday through Friday excluding Federal holidays," reported 33 major work stoppages beginning in the year and involving 458,900 workers (BLS - Major Work Stoppages in 2023).
