Will Oracle lose the JavaScript trademark by the end of 2026?

Yes

Question description #

Oracle currently owns the JavaScript trademark. Over the years various parties have requested that they give up the trademark, most recently in the form of an open letter (https://javascript.tm) signed by prominent members of the JavaScript community including Brendan Eich (creator of JavaScript), Ryan Dahl (creator of Node/Deno), Michael Ficarra (an editor of the JavaScript specification), Isaac Z. Schlueter (creator of NPM) and others. If Oracle does not comply, they are intending to file with a Petition for Trademark Cancellation with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on the grounds of abandonment and possibly genericization.

This market resolves YES if, before the end of 2026, Oracle no longer owns the JavaScript trademark. It doesn't matter how this happens: this could be due to them voluntarily releasing it, it being cancelled by the USPTO, them transferring it to a non-profit, or even selling it to another company, as long as Oracle Corporation are no longer the owners. Otherwise, it resolves NO at the end of 2026.

I will trade in this market.
