In World War 1, the Beiyang government of China played a limited role, but joined on the side of the Allied Powers, which included the United States.
In the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Republic of China was invaded by Japan. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan, triggering the Axis powers in Europe to declare war on America, in solidarity with Japan. This had the effect of aligning China once again on the side of the Allied Powers, alongside the United States.
Recently, some have speculated that there may be another world war, possibly rising from Russian aggression in Eastern Europe, or from a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. If another world war occurs, will China and the United States once again be on the same side?
