Since the tragic passing of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500, there have been no driver fatalities in any of NASCAR's three highest series. Five more drivers perished in lower-leveled series between 2001 and 2009, but none have since.
