Implicit in the plans of the leading AGI companies, so it would seem, is achieving economic domination. If a single company were to dominate the world’s economy, that company would presumably hold a huge amount of power—think Incite, Westworld fans. This raises questions about the desirability of such a future.
As a point of reference, Apple, the world’s largest company at the time of writing (July 22, 2024), at a market cap of $3.4 trillion, is worth 3.1% of the world’s total market cap (source).
