Pangolins are an order of mammals found in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. There are eight currently extant species of pangolin. One the IUCN red list, three of these (Phillipine pangolins, Chinese pangolins and Sunda pangolins) are listed as critically endangered, three (Tree pangolins, Indian pangolins and Giant pangolins) are listed as endangered and two ([Long-tailed pangolins](Long-tailed pangolin) and Ground pangolins) are listed as vulnerable. The endangerment of pangolins is caused by a combination of poaching and deforestation.
