Question description #

The US tax preparation industry is a big business, with providers of tax software making large profits, for example Intuit making $1.6 billion from their TurboTax products in 2019. Much of this is alleged to have come from customers who were eligible for free tax filing. Intuit has been accused of conducting a long running lobbying campaign to prevent US taxpayers from easily filing for free.

This question asks if the fraction of taxpayers using paid tax preparation services will decline significantly by the 2027 tax year.
